The Analyst function is critical to streamlining market operations and ensuring its real-time reliability by methodically working through processes, understanding all impacts not only on the primary dataflow but also fully understanding the effects of changes to the data flow on all aspects of market operations and interfaces. The analyst must also understand all relevant business processes and how to translate those processes into usable applications that satisfy user needs.
The Analyst function provides guidance and assistance to the business unit subject matter experts on not only where but how to access critical business unit data in various applications, and provides counsel to the business owners on new technology methods available to interface and process business data either in new or enhanced system applications.
The successful candidate should be knowledgeable of both current and future RTO business rules, procedures, and data requirements where AEP transacts business including PJM, MISO, SPP and ERCOT. An understanding of the relationship between RTO business rules and requirements and their interfaces into AEP systems and operations, including required data flow is critical, as the Analyst facilitates the optimization of that data flow between AEP internal systems and RTO interfaces.
The successful candidate must also support phases of the software development lifecycle critical to the business unit. To accomplish this the Analyst will:
· Work with business subject matter experts and IT to develop requirements for new applications or enhancements to existing applications.
· Work with IT BSA’s, system architects and developers to create software solutions that satisfy the full range of requirements.
· Perform system and user acceptance testing, document bugs, and work with IT to resolve identified issues.

The Analyst also supports production applications to minimize business interruptions by:

The OMA provides the first level of on-site support for all IT systems in the Distribution Dispatch Centers (DDCs). Their specific focus is supporting the Distribution Outage Management Applicaitons (DOMA) used for service restoration processes. The OMA owns all IT problems in the DDC and is responsible for timely resolution. The OMA must coordinate with several other IT teams (Application development teams and IT Infrastructure teams) and is responsible for setting the priority of resolution. The OMA is on-call 24X7 (alternating weeks with other OMAs) and must be available for phone support and on-site support (12 hour shifts during major storms which occur 2 to 3 times per year). Work hours are M-F, 8 hours w/ start times between 6:30am and 8:30am. The primary work location will be at the Corpus Christi DDC. Limited travel will be required to provide backup support at other DDCs.
The OMA must have a working knowledge of Windows XP Workstations, Windows operating systems, AIX (UNIX) operating systems, Oracle & SQL, workstation hardware and LAN/WAN infrastructure (ethernet, TCP/IP). The OMA must possess excellent trouble shooting skills and communication skills. They should enjoy working with people in a team environment. Training will be provided on specific OMS applications.
The OMA will report to the Distribution Outage Management Applications (DOMA) team. The OMA will coordinate the deployment and testing for all new OMS applications in their region. The OMA will be responsible to become a subject matter expert on one or more of the projects within our job scope, taking on the responsibility of assisting other OMAs with the subject. The OMA is the owner of these systems to make sure they are optimized and highly available to support electric service restoration to AEP's customers. The OMA will work closely with their customers and DDC management. The OMA will manage the readiness of IT systems in preparation for storm conditions. Specific duties include system monitoring, system tuning, trouble-shooting, workstation support, server support, software deployment, and testing. The OMA will be a focal coordination point for the deployment of software and maintenance of IT systems in the DDC.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. Minimum of two years experience in Information Technology (IT).
