New Buildings Institute (NBI), a Washington-based nonprofit working to improve the energy performance in commercial buildings, is seeking a Communications Specialist in the Portland/Vancouver area who has experience working in the energy efficiency and/or green building field. Candidates should be motivated, highly detail-oriented, organized, and someone who can jump right into working with a group of self-starting project managers. Strong creative and writing skills are a must. You ll work with the NBI communications team to promote NBI s research and as well as our guidance and other resources to aid design teams in creating more energy-efficient buildings. We need someone with 3-5 years experience, who is not afraid to think outside the box and motivated to get the job done. NBI is a small group of highly dedicated individuals that believe strongly in our mission and are intent on achieving our goals. Communication Specialist responsibilities include supporting the communications teams and key initiatives by: acting as the customer service point of contact for users of NBI tools supporting the promotion of NBI tools to targeted audiences supporting the development of content for presentations, collateral materials, reports, etc. facilitating educational outreach activities such as webinars to various stakeholder audiences developing electronic communications via online services such as Constant Contact tracking and collecting media coverage using Google alerts or other means tracking and assessing web analytics using Google analytics supporting sponsor outreach and other client relations activities The successful candidate will have: Experience working in the energy efficiency and/or green building field Demonstrated writing skills (samples will be required) Highly competent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint Good design sense and capability of creating graphics for presentations, web pages, collateral, etc. Experience with online services such as Go To Meeting, Constant Contact, Vimeo, etc. Good organizational skills, but also flexibility/adaptability Ability to take initiative and multitask BA in communications, marketing or other related field Other Details: This position will be located at NBI s downtown Vancouver, WA office. NBI is involved in projects all over the country, and occasional travel will be expected as part of the position. Travel expenses are reimbursed. Salary commensurate with experience.
